Welcome to the IT Support of the Faculty of Biology!

Advances in research and development in recent years have revolutionised biology and brought it into the era of Big Data. Competitive research requires an adequate high performance computing infrastructure, both in terms of hardware and expertise.

The HPC cluster ‘BioHPC-Genomics’ of the Faculty of Biology is geared towards the current challenges of modern genome research. The creation of this central infrastructure is sustainable, as it optimises work processes, reduces costs and promotes interaction between working groups.

The HPC cluster is housed and managed at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) and used at the Faculty of Biology via remote access.

It consists of the local IT managers, who organise direct support in the working groups, the Faculty IT staff, who are responsible for supporting the Faculty's various working groups and services, and an IT committee, which advises the Faculty on strategic decisions together with the Faculty IT.

The faculty's IT support consists of the local IT managers who organize direct support in the working groups, the faculty IT staff who are responsible for supporting the various working groups and services of the faculty, and an IT committee which, together with the faculty IT, advises the faculty on strategic decisions.
